As we approach the holidays, it’s the perfect time to cleanse and detox our bodies. And here at Power of 3, we’re firm believers in keeping it incredibly simple. We follow the science of Ayurveda that explores principles to keep our bodies in balance. We look to nature to eat locally and from the ‘harvest’. AND, we add PowerBlends to as many meals as we can to balance our blood sugar levels, provide us with energy and enrich our meals with omega3s, fiber and protein.
Here’s one fun fact: When you let your body relax and even out your blood sugar levels, your body lets go of fat rather than storing it? Your body trusts that it will be fed nutritious, seasonal food without distraction and it eases into a more harmonious state. This is when it easily releases fats which the body metabolizes for energy. And guess what? Toxins are stored in fat. When fat leaves your body; so do the toxins.
Here are 3-ultra-simple-recipes for detoxing before the holidays and remember – try and eat without distraction, free of computers and television screens.
# 1 — what’s in abundance, local and part of the fall harvest? Apples! And they are a great way to ‘cool’ your digestive system from summer heat and prepare it for the colder months.
Try POWERBLEND Maple Cinnamon on cooked apples:
#2 – NO description needed, this is so easy!
Try POWERBLEND Sea Salt & Garlic sprinkled on top of avocado on rice cakes. We love organic rice cakes from Lundberg. And as long as it’s a GMO-free rice cake with no flavor additives, any brands are fine for detoxing purposes.
# 3 – POWERBLEND Tumeric in this super-simple Black Bean Soup (recipe c/o Allrecipe.com)
1 tablespoon GHEE unless you are vegan then use….olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
1 stalk celery, chopped (organic)

1 (14.5 ounces) can crushed tomatoes (organic)
Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Sauté onion, celery, carrots and garlic for 5 minutes. Season with chili powder, cumin, and black pepper; cook for 1 minute. Stir in vegetable broth, 2 cans of beans, and corn. Bring to a boil.
Meanwhile, in a food processor or blender, process remaining 2 cans beans and tomatoes until smooth. Stir into boiling soup mixture, reduce heat to medium, and simmer for 15 minutes.
